Desert Traditions specialises in small group tours to India and beyond. Our tours are a unique blend of India’s ‘must see’ sites and hidden gems. Carole Douglas travels to India several times each year in search of new places, people and experiences which she crafts into tours that lead you into some of the India’s most remote and fascinating regions. Since 2004, when Carole led her first textile tour into Kutch, until the present day she has shown the diversity of India to scores of people from Australia, Canada, United States, United Kingdom, Spain and New Zealand.
And just when you think we have India sewn up we pick up our connections in Santa Fe, New Mexico and follow the threads all the way to Southern Mexico. Sometimes an opportunity such as attending the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe is too good to pass up and, while we are there, why not follow the muses of Georgia O’Keeffe, DH Lawrence and others in New Mexico and then seek Frida Kahlo’s inspirations in Oaxaca south of the border?
‘Our sights are set on remarkable horizons, our vista is the cultural landscape, our destination is the journey and our resting place is in the hearts of those we meet along the way.’
