Snapshot

Born and raised in New Zealand, Carole Douglas has spent the past twenty years living in Sydney, Australia. She is currently residing in Spain while her husband completes a project and spends her time between Spain, Australia and India.

Carole is an experienced world traveler, artist, writer and social advocate. In Australia she worked as an environmental consultant with a strong interest in arts and crafts practices and the innovative reuse and recycling of waste materials. Her former career as an award winning textile artist and educator continues to motivate her work and travels.

Prior to the devastating Kutch earthquake in 2001 Carole was a regular visitor to Kutch and it was her love of the place and its people that inspired her to organise the exhibition Resurgence for earthquake affected artisans. She continues to work closely with several Indian non government organisations and crafts cooperatives in Kutch and Ahmedabad to improve opportunities for Kutch textile artists.

With her in-depth knowledge of Kutch and its people and the respect she commands, tour participants will enjoy a rewarding and sometimes surprising journey.

Carole works with the travel agency Landmark Travel in Sydney, Australia to deliver tours of quality, service and integrity.
