Desert Traditions - who will lead the tour? Carole Douglas
Namaste
I’d love you to join me on a Desert Traditions & Textile Treasures tour. I can promise you an unforgettable experience and one that will take you into places not usually seen by visitors to this region.
Kutch will capture your heart from the moment that you step onto the plane with others who are sharing the same destination. It will capture your heart every time you receive a wide Kutchi smile and it will capture your heart when you learn about a most remarkable story of survival and renewal.
Come with me and experience pure magic as the sun sinks into the horizon; as traditional artisans stitch, weave, print, tie, dye and paint the fabric that sustains them; as we share a simple meal with a local family; as we follow in ancient footsteps; as we witness the stillness of the Ranns of Kutch and ‘listen to the voice of the great silence’. Mahatma Gandhi’s words urge us to take the time each day to meditate and reflect on peace.
Gujarat is the home of Gandhi and to honour his way of life I choose to run your tours ethically. At all times we respect the rights of others and the environment, we honour local traditions and customs and we travel only in the company of goodwill and the spirit of understanding.
In keeping with the seasons and the times each tour will offer small differences. Each tour will offer not-to-be-missed opportunities for all textile lovers and practitioners and will cater to the traveller with an eye for differences ... after all, it’s the differences that keep me coming back for more.
I look forward to seeing you in Mumbai.
Best wishes
